Okay, so nobody’s perfect. We all get that. But some people appear to be…I have news for you: they either have a REALLY great make-up artist on call, or they’ve become incredibly adept with self tanner. There is no one of the face of the earth without something that they wish they could change. Why is that? Why can’t we all just learn to love ourselves for the extraordinary being that we are? Who ever said that you HAD to be perfect?
I came to a realization today…I spend so much energy trying to fix the things that I don’t like, and it exhausts me. Stay with me here: I spend AT LEAST 1 hour every day exercising (which I enjoy, to be quite honest), 2 hours agonizing over my food logs and how many calories I still have before I’ve busted the ceiling off my BMR. What if I turned this around? Why do I have to be so negative? I honestly think that it all comes down to peer pressure. We see so many magazines, books and advertisements that pipe the same message into our brain: “you’re not perfect, but you can be if you use ____________.” I’m tired of that message. I actually like LOVE…dare I say it? ME. I LOVE ME. There I said it. I love the fact that I can bench press more than most guys. I love the fact that I can train my body to do something amazing (like the Clean & Jerk). I
love the fact that I actually CRAVE apples. I love the scar on my knee from when I fell as a kid. And yes, I love my stretch marks. We all have them, it’s whether or not we embrace them that makes a difference. I honestly believe that changing your attitude about yourself image can change so much else in your life. I have found that I love to learn, and I retain the strangest facts! For instance, did you know that the sciatic nerve is the LONGEST and WIDEST nerve in the entire body?! It runs clear from your lower back and runs down your leg. Take that, biology class! LOL
Okay, enough about me…what about you?? What do you love about yourself? I have found that it only takes one thing to change your perpective. Mine started with my freakishly strong fingernails. LOVE that feature. And it just exploded! There are days when I wish that my stomach was a little flatter, and sure, I’d like to have perfect skin, but I really do LOVE me. I’m sharing this because it has totally changed how I interact with people. I’ve noticed that I’m just all around happier…and it all started because I stopped listening to some marketing guy on the 10th floor whose job it is to give women a complex. Enough with him. This time it’s about me.
As you read this, pick something that you love about yourself, and affirm your decision every day. You’ll be amazed what those little words can do!!

Love this one Brea! It is so about learning to love ourselves, the good and the bad…regardless of what others say!
