Kettlenetics: Target Toning

thumbnailca9r1q99I realized last night that it’s been awhile since I’ve done the Kettlenetics toning workout. So this morning (after my 4 mile run) I popped in KB Target Toning and got to work. I forgot how much this workout TRULY gets into the deep muscle tissue! This workout has 5 segments, so if you’re short on time, it’s a great option. It starts out with upper body. First you do shoulder circles, then you do MORE shoulder circles…then Michelle forgets to have you do them on one side. Don’t worry…you won’t actually be missing an entire set, just a bonus. It’s a good reason to switch starting sides every time you do Target Toning. After the shoulder circles, you move on to rows, curls and push ups. Let’s not forget the tricep extentions. My arms were a little like jello after doing this workout. AND it’s only 10 minutes!! How awesome is that?!

Next, you move on to lower body. This workout made my legs BURN. I will admit to using the 8 pound kbell here…I have fairly strong legs and it takes a bit to tax them. Curtsey lunges, side lunges, single-leg dead-ish lifts…it’s all here. AND she incorporates one of the most ignored muscle groups in exercise videos: YOUR CALVES!! WOOHOO! This workout gets your heart rate up, and provides a pretty good burn for only being 10 minutes long.

The next two segments of the video are standing abs and floor work. Both are fantastic. I like all the twists (both standing and Russian) and the interesting movements. I took it a little easy this morning, since my abs were STILL sore from Tracy Anderson’s Post Pregnancy Workout! (each segment: standing and floor work is 10 minutes)

The last segment is probably my favorite: dynamic stretching. Who DOESN’T love to stretch?! It makes your whole body feel good. And after beating it up this morning, stretching felt absolutely DIVINE! I like the fact that Michelle actually takes a full 10 minutes to stretch your ENTIRE body.

I think I like this workout because it’s a full 50 minutes if you do all the segments, and I always feel SUPER refreshed from the stretching. Definitely a keeper!

  1. I love my kettlebell. I started out with it after my ACL surgery and haven’t looked back. You should try the Kettlebell Goddess workout.

  2. That’s on the top of my list of wants!! :)
