Brea Getting Fit

Adventures in Fitness

It’s a balance

So we know that I believe in rest days. They’re necessary. But what happens when you plan to workout, but the power goes out (stupid thunderstorm!)? Do you just assume that you’re not meant to get your rear in gear? Or do you find other ways to move? Most of my workouts involve 7388934putting a DVD in my DVD player…which requires electricity. Ummm…okay. New plan. If we want to be fit, then we have to get creative. But what about days where you just feel lazy (thunderstorms also make me want to get a bottle of wine and play monopoly…which involves sitting on my tooshie…not active by any means). So I am sitting here (with power, thankfully), thinking about working out. It’s late, and I have a race tomorrow. I don’t want to do anything super strenuous, so I’m thinking Tracy Anderson. AND the best part? I can watch a movie (YAY POWER) with my hubby while I do it! The great thing about Tracy Anderson’s method is that it requires NO equipment (save the 3lb weights…but I have those sitting next to the TV). She also has some great workouts posted to youtube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=taCiMBFc0sc&feature=related) so that you can do them on your own. Her basic principles center around pulling the skin back to the muscle, which involves isometric exercises. GREAT! I can do that WHILE I LAZE ABOUT AND WATCH TV!! Problem solved. I have found that fitness is all about creativity…if you’re determined to get in shape, you HAVE to make time. EVEN if it’s only 10 minutes…. Normally, I spend 1-2 hours a day working out…I just don’t have that kind of time today. THANKFULLY, I have some great ideas from a great trainer. I’m off to do some of her lower body work!!

  1. I didn’t know that the tracy anderson method focused on sucking the skin back to the muscle. I also didn’t know that she had clips on youtube. Great tips…thanks!
