Fruit for breakfast?

You read that right…fruit for breakfast. Not too novel of a concept, I realize, but what if you were eating ONLY fruit for breakfast. Not fruit on your cereal or in your oatmeal or on your toast…. Just fruit by itself. At first it sounds kinda kooky, I’ll admit (that was my reaction). Then I tried it.fruit It’s not half bad! I don’t get that mid-morning headache that I always look forward to after eating a breakfast high in grains. I have been doing alot of reserach about diets…and that is where this all began. I read the book Skinny Bitch a month or so ago, and the Bitches suggested eating fruit for breakfast so that it can digest properly. Skeptic that I am, I blew off this claim and kept right on truckin’ with my Kashi Cereal and soymilk. Then I started reading a little more about ideal diet and all the health benefits that come with it. Ideal diet being vegetarian or vegan. No animal products (not even dairy or eggs)…I can’t give up my sushi just yet, though. So I’m following the diet as closely as possible. Eat to Live also mentioned the fruit for breakfast thing…and it got me thinking. The reasons behind eating fruit for breakfast is that this allows your body to make full use off the enzymes and fiber in fruit, uninhibited by other foods. This allows your body to essentially cleanse itself from the inside out. Not a bad deal. So this week, I decided to give it a whirl. Guess what?! I love it!! I don’t think that I could honestly go back to eating a conventional breakfast again. Sure I’ll have cereal, but it will be for lunch or dinner…or after I’ve eaten my fruit. At first I was a little scared about the low calories (4 pieces of fruit average about 250 calories), but I’m honestly not TRULY HUNGRY (remember that your TRUE HUNGER is a mouth/throat sensation) until lunch, between 11 and 1. Best of all, I don’t need coffee!

That is a FANTASTIC IDEA!! I think I may give that idea a whirl starting next week. I’ll let you know how it goes!

How much fruit do you eat? I’m guessing one serving isn’t enough or is it?

I actually ate a whole grapefruit, banana, small orange and a pear. It was ALOT!

I don’t think I could never eat 4 pcs of fruit in one sitting. I do good to eat an entire apple…but I’m not a huge apple fan. Apples are really filling to me. I can pretty much eat a whole pear and have no problems downing a banana. But what I do love is my juicer. I feel better and lose weight easier when I’m juicing. I juice fruits and veggies together. I just hate cleaning that crazy machine!
