Bar Method: Change Your Body

May 4, 2009

dvd-cFirst of all, I absolutely love The Bar Method. Burr is so soft spoken and precise in her direction. I love the fact that she explains what you’re working, and HOW it’s working. She also does very well counting and keeping tempo, which has been a frustration in other workouts for me. Burr does a wonderful job of incorporating total body. You start off with some knee lifts for warm up, and then move into weighted upper body. She works your shoulders/back and then your biceps and triceps. My triceps were BURNING by the end of the weight work!! Then you move to the floor for push ups and tricep dips. Again, these made my arms and chest shake, but that’s a good thing, according to Burr. You move back to the bar for calves and then thigh work, which make my calves shake…weird. After creating a good burn in your quads, you move to the floor for my favorite move: THE PRETZEL!! And it was just as wonderful as I thought it would be. After the pretzel, you move back to the bar for more seat work and then upper thighs, which always works my hips, too (not sure if it’s supposed to, though…). After exhausting your legs, you get to move on to abdominals. I only have one word: OUCH. Then there’s some more glute work…back dancing!! I absolutely LOVE back dancing!! This workout definitely got my heart rate up a bit, and got me sweating!! In fact, this has convinced me to do isometrics 5x a week this month! I have been aiming for 3x a week, but am impatient and want to see quicker results…I’ll keep my blog updated on my progress. Wish me luck!!
