30 Day Shred Workout Review

51qlqi3yaol_sl160_So I watched the Biggest Loser season finale last night. Helen won (sorry if I spoiled it for you)…not super excited about that…I was really cheering for Mike or Tara, but they all looked amazing. Okay, enough about the show. This is a workout review afterall. I felt the need to pull out Jillian Michaels – 30 Day Shred this morning and it kicked my butt. Seriously. I know that each segment is only 20 minutes (there is a beginning intermediate and advanced option), but HOLY COW! Jillian guides you and her two back-up girls through her 3-minutes of strength, 2-minutes of cardio and 1-minute of abs. For those of you with joint issues, this IS a high-impact workout if you do it right. She does butt-kicks, full-out jumping jacks…AND gets your heart pumping. The good news is that because of the 3, 2, 1 approach, the workout actually goes by really fast. I also like that there are 3 separate workouts, so as you progress you won’t get bored. Each workout contains different cardio, weights and ab moves. And they do get harder as you progress…just warning you!

Now for my gripes: Jillian spends most of her time walking around the set, encouraging (in a very Jillian-type way) her back-ups and telling you that you CAN do real jumping jacks. NO CHEATING. I do wish that she would actually do the workout with you…the girls get PLENTY sweaty. Other than that, this was a good, solid workout. It’s great for when I’m crunched on time, and I’m positive that if you did this for 30 whole days, you WOULD see results (unless you’re mowing down on Cheeto-frosted cupcakes).
