EAT THIS: Better than Cocoa Puffs

May 23, 2009

mediumWhen I woke up this morning, I realized that I have a 3-day weekend!! Guess what that means to me? I get to have a LAZY SATURDAY! I am SO very excited, especially since they don’t come around too terribly often. I honestly believe that everyone needs to have a lazy day every once in awhile, it’s just that with school, it is very hard for me to find that “down” time. So, to start off my day, I made myself a bowl of cereal…which is a departure from my normal grapefruit and banana meal. My all-time favorite lazy day breakfast is Kashi GOLEAN Crunch! Cereal, 15-Ounce Boxes (Pack of 6) with Silk Soymilk, Chocolate, 8.25-Ounce Cartons (Pack of 18) instead of regular soymilk. It tastes BETTER than Cocoa Puffs (which aren’t terribly healthy, anyways, but if you MUST, Cocoa Puffs, 11.8-Ounce Boxes (Pack of 6) are VEGAN…just with alot of BHT *preservative* and TONS of high-fructose corn syrup *mentioned more than once on the nutrition label*)!! If you haven’t tried it, then silk-soymilk-chocolate-8oz-largeyou should. I will admit that it’s a rather expensive cereal, which is why I buy Kashi Go Lean Crunch Large Size Cereal, 25-Ounce Boxes (Pack of 3) in bulk…it’s quite a bit cheaper that way! I also buy my soymilk in smaller cartons (even though it’s a bit more expensive) because I only have Silk Soymilk, Chocolate, 8.25-Ounce Cartons (Pack of 18) once or maybe twice a week. Having the 8-oz containers also helps me to portion my food, which means less excessive calories, and less excessive pounds! I also like that I get seven WHOLE GRAINS in with BREAKFAST! How awesome is that?! I will admit that the cereal is sweetened, but with evaporated cane juice and brown rice syrup, rather than high-fructose corn syrup. Why is HFCS so bad? Check out this article: http://www.naturalnews.com/024466.html…. Scary, huh? It’s enough to make me SERIOUSLY read labels like a mad-woman. I try to avoid HFCS at all costs. In fact, one of my favorite books, Skinny Bitch, agrees that HFCS is JUST AS SCARY AND UNNATURAL as other artificial sweeteners…. Okay, back to my point (that’s a totally different blog that apparently is BEGGING to be written! Stay tuned…), having a treat every now and again is a GOOD THING!! So I indulge in a healthy way, getting my grown-up “kid” cereal! Try it, you’ll be addicted to a GOOD THING!)
