Ouch.
Hubby and I went for a run this morning (6.2 miles!!), and it was all good until we were about 1/2 a mile from home. My right foot started hurting, so we talked and decided to walk the rest of the way to prevent any serious injury. We got home, and I took my shoes and socks off. I HAD 2 HUGE BLISTERS!! I have had the same running shoes for about 4 months now, and haven’t had any problems…maybe it’s time for new shoes?
After we got home, I got ready for work, which included making breakfast for myself. Hubby was making his breakfast, too…A FRUIT SMOOTHIE!! I was SO PROUD!! I had told him about eating fruit for breakfast (and idea that came from Skinny Bitch and then again in Eat to Live: The Revolutionary Formula for Fast and Sustained Weight Loss
) and how beneficial it is for your body. I normally have either a mango or a grapefruit at home, and then a banana once I get to work, hoping to lead by example. So, in the spirit of health, he made himself a banana and fruit smoothie! He’s actually inspired me to look into green smoothies. I really want to start having one every morning after our runs. I think that it would not only help my energy level, but also increase my greens intake! Recipe suggestions?
Back to my owie…I am down to 1 blister now (the other one took care of itself), but the one that’s left HURTS. I’m thinking about maybe getting some moleskin for my race…does anyone have any other ideas? I wore flip flops to work today (thankfully our office is pretty relaxed) and am planning on doing that for the rest of the week…hopefully it will start to heal itself soon!
