When I started running, I didn’t think that I would enjoy it as much as I do…. And starting tomorrow, I’ll be training for my FIRST (eek!) 1/2 marathon. That’s 13.1 miles. I want the bumper sticker, darn it! Seriously, I am scared and excited all at the same time. Better than doing it by myself, Ish and my good friends Maria and Lisa are running with me (okay, okay, they’re running at their pace, but we’ll meet up at the finish line!). I’ve actually been planning on doing this for awhile, but wasn’t sure if I would be able to afford the entry fee after the debacle last week. Thankfully, I was able to set the entry fee for both Ish and I aside! YAY! Now I’m just plain nervous…we went on our run this morning and the Galveston County Runners Club (GCRC) had their training mile markers set up along our route…we passed the “7 mile turn around” marker and I almost passed out! Just thinking about running that far makes me a little bit woozy…but I know that with proper training I’ll be fine…now if I could just kick my junkfood habit…. I’ve GOT to get back to my green smoothies for breakfast, large salad with fruit for lunch and low-fat dinner if I’m going to be properly fueled (and avoid stomach cramps!). So, starting tomorrow I’m going back to my plan. I am NOT giving up my glass of wine, though. I look forward to that. Here goes nothin’!

Congrats! I’m doing one in 6 weeks- aahhhhhh! I’m as nervous as I’ll get out. Happy Training!
good luck! you can do it!
my half is in september! on labor day weekend! aaack! this week was a setback w/ the huge blisters on my heels. planning on running in the morning.
its hard to figure out which traning plan to use there are so many out there! i know i read on runnersworld.com that for a beginer, just run 2-3 easy runs per week and one long run. not to focus on mileage time but just getting your body used to the distance.
but good luck you can do it!
don’t overtrain! and i feel you on the junk food! this weekend has not been good! ha!!
YEA!!!!!!!! You set it in stone now
Now backing out! I still can’t fathom 13.1 miles, but it’s on my bucket list and if it helps me get rid of this weight – then so be it
Maybe we’ll set our sights on 26.2 miles in 2011? LOL
You’ll do great and looking forward to seeing you this weekend! Kristen’s not running
But she’ll be there in spirit!
*hugs*
Lisa
