Fartleks…and a GIVEAWAY!!

This morning started off to be a casual run with Ish, and turned into fartleks…or sprints followed by aerobic walking. Given that I normally run a 10-11 minute mile, so running 9 minute miles this morning was full out sprinting for me. I suppose that it makes sense when I’m trying to keep up with my 6-foot tall hubby! I was pleasantly surprised to find that I felt great during the run, and the intervals were super easy to time with my Gymboss GB2009 SILVER, since I have it set for 3 minute runs, 1 4198moydml_sl160_minute walks. I am finding that I absolutely LOVE my Gymboss, and I cannot wait to share it with one of you! SO I’m giving away a FREE Gymboss GB2009 SILVER to one lucky reader!! The great thing about the interval timer is that it can be used for anything from running to lifting to kettlebells…basically anytime you need to change between a rest and active phase. It would also work great for treadmill dancing, where you skip, leap or dance for 3-4 minutes and then walk for recovery. Treadmill dancing is a GREAT workout (even though it looks kind of odd), and it is definitely worth trying. Enough rambling, though…y’all probably want to know how to enter to win this awesome interval timer! It’s pretty easy…just leave a comment letting me know what you would use it for!! The contest is going to run through FRIDAY (August 7th) at MIDNIGHT. I will announce the winner Saturday. Please, only one enter per person.

  1. I didn’t even know these things existed! I’ve been trying to time all my interval running with my heart rate monitor watch, and sometimes I forget to change. My last interval workout was supposed to be half mile repeats and the last 3 intervals ended up being almost a mile each! So what would I use an interval timer for? Probably EVERYTHING! It’s kind of like when I got my label maker…suddenly I was labeling the pull chains for my ceiling fan (one said “light”…the other “fan”) and labeling the shelves in my kitchen cabinets. (My husband made me stop after that!) Interval training is supposed to be very beneficial and I’ve been working to incorporate it into my weekly training plans. I’m currently training for a half marathon in October and this device would help out SO much!

  2. Hey There… that looks awesome. Well as you know, I have been trying to do my first 5K and I have been trying to use my phone’s lap stopwatch to do something similar to this, but it just doesn’t work. Having this would definitely help me reach my goal of a 5K before December.

  3. Ok – well I start my half marathon training in October for the March run. I also use my HRM to try to monitor interval training and I ALWAYS either forget to switch or just stare at my watch while I’m running watching the seconds tick by! {depends on the kind of mood I’m in, I guess – haha). I also recently got a 20lb kettlebell and the poster even suggest an interval timer to help count reps! And also…just for fun – I might use it to help in the hopeless potty training of my soon to be 4 yr old son! 20 minutes off potty – 2 minutes on! hahahahaha

I would find this Gymboss timer VERY USEFUL in my daily training and heck, I might even take up treadmill dancing now :)

  4. The interval timer sounds great for Tabata workouts..I don’t remember how I stumbled upon your blog (SP?) but I love to follow your adventures of being vegan and working out. Have a great weekend !

  5. I would find this very beneficial to have. I’ve recently gotten into kettlebells and I love them. I probably let too much rest time in between sets. I also want to incorporate other workouts altogether with kettlebells. Sounds like this would work out great for doing that. Thanks for giving us the opportunities Brea!

  6. How cool! I want one! I just got a Polar F6 a few months ago and I love it, but this would also help me as I train for me C25K. You go girl. You are doing fabulous! I miss you!

  7. This would be great to add to my fitness routine. As soon as Mark is born I plan to do some interval cardio which the Gymboss would be perfect for timing my intervals. I would love to do the C25K with this. I tried to do it one time, but every time I would look down I had gone over the time! Thanks Bree giving us an opportunity to win this!

  8. Is it OK if I enter this, too? I won the Pershing Square 1 DVD (which I love) and this Gymboss GB2009 Silver sounds fantastic! It would be the perfect timer to do intervals correctly and would be great for any workout (I love kettlebells).
Thank you for these wonderful chances to win.

  9. Absolutely okay, Elizabeth!! I’ll be drawing names again, so all’s fair. Did you receive your PS1 DVD?
