<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Okay, so I realized when I got up this morning that I need a plan for this month&#8230;ESPECIALLY if I am going to stay on top of my 1/2 marathon training. So I pulled out my diet and exercise log, and am working on tracking my workouts (or rather, pre-planning them for the weeks). As I <img class="alignleft size-full wp-image-877" title="51ti3pxjb3l_sl160_" src="http://breagettingfit.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/08/51ti3pxjb3l_sl160_.jpg" alt="51ti3pxjb3l_sl160_" width="160" height="118" />am sitting here working on my schedule, I realized that I have a HUGE number of workouts that I haven&#8217;t used in AGES&#8230;so it&#8217;s time to pull them out and get down to business. My goal this month is to use all of my barre workouts, AND to re-introduce my <a href="http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001EQW8W2?ie=UTF8&amp;tag=bregetfitadvi-20&amp;linkCode=as2&amp;camp=1789&amp;creative=390957&amp;creativeASIN=B001EQW8W2">Gaiam Kettlenetics Slim and Tone Kit</a><img style="border:none !important; margin:0px !important;" src="http://www.assoc-amazon.com/e/ir?t=bregetfitadvi-20&amp;l=as2&amp;o=1&amp;a=B001EQW8W2" border="0" alt="" width="1" height="1" />. The plan so far (for the first week of August) is to alternate running days with Kettlenetics days&#8230;and do a barre workout 5 times a week. I&#8217;m hoping for 6&#8230;but I don&#8217;t want to over-extend myself. I am very excited to get back to my Kbells&#8230;I didn&#8217;t realize how much I missed using them! I am also excited to get back into my routine. I finished my last <a href="http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/1593596707?ie=UTF8&amp;tag=bregetfitadvi-20&amp;linkCode=as2&amp;camp=1789&amp;creative=390957&amp;creativeASIN=1593596707">Diet &amp; Fitness Journal: Your Personal Guide to Optimum Health (Little Black Journals)</a><img style="border:none !important; margin:0px !important;" src="http://www.assoc-amazon.com/e/ir?t=bregetfitadvi-20&amp;l=as2&amp;o=1&amp;a=1593596707" border="0" alt="" width="1" height="1" /> about two months ago, and for some reason&#8230;I haven&#8217;t started using the new one. So it&#8217;s finally time. The first thing that I did this morning was to pull out my journal and start to label my weeks and put my workouts in so that I have an outline. I think that outlining my workouts will help me to focus my attention and spend less time trying to decide which workout sounds interesting that day. I am also hoping that by using multiple barre workouts I will avoid boredom (never happened with barre workouts&#8230;but there&#8217;s always a first time!). I am also aiming to eat 90% raw&#8230;which means that my average needs to be raw 90% of the time (obvious, I know). I am hoping that by focusing on consumption of raw foods that I will better fuel my workouts. I am going to try quite a few of the fuel recipes in <a href="http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0738212547?ie=UTF8&amp;tag=bregetfitadvi-20&amp;linkCode=as2&amp;camp=1789&amp;creative=390957&amp;creativeASIN=0738212547">Thrive: The Vegan Nutrition Guide to Optimal Performance in Sports and Life</a><img style="border:none !important; margin:0px !important;" src="http://www.assoc-amazon.com/e/ir?t=bregetfitadvi-20&amp;l=as2&amp;o=1&amp;a=0738212547" border="0" alt="" width="1" height="1" />. I already know that I feel better and work better eating raw&#8230;food is easier to diegest in its natural state, and I love the all-day energy that I have. So my plan: workouts (check!), diet&#8230;keeping track of it&#8230;is in progress. Writing down everything that I eat is so important. I cannot wait to see which days I have good energy and which days I feel &#8220;blah&#8221;. Tomorrow is my long run day, and I CANNOT WAIT!!</p>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><img class="alignright size-thumbnail wp-image-136" title="thumbnailca9r1q99" src="http://breagettingfit.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/04/thumbnailca9r1q99.jpg" alt="thumbnailca9r1q99" width="137" height="150" />So this morning I decided to do one of my Kettlenetics videos. I chose <em>KB Total Body Blast</em> partially because it&#8217;s only 30 minutes, and mostly because it keeps my heart rate up. This workout does not come with the standard infomercial set, it must be ordered as part of an upgrade package ($29.95 + shipping). Let me first say that I am SO glad that I upgraded. The 8 pound kbell is coming in handy for other kettlebell workouts, as well as some of the <em>KB Target Toning</em> workout.</p>
<p>As for this workout, it&#8217;s very fast paced, and higher impact than I would have expected. This workout also has a much more complete warm-up sequence than the others, in my opinion. After the warm up, it&#8217;s straight into swings, high pulls and overhead press. Michelle has you doing lateral leaps (jumping side-to-side) plyos and burpees. This is NOT for the faint of heart. I know that all workouts get easier over time, and this one will too. I was absolutely drenched with sweat halfway through. After she&#8217;s done doing the higher-impact cardio segment, you move into abs with full russian get-ups (love them!!) and russian twists (work WONDERS on my waist!). There is also a section of push-ups with arm extensions, which created a *good* burn in my abs, arms and legs. I guess that&#8217;s why she called it &#8216;total body&#8217;. This is a great, well rounded workout. It includes Michelle&#8217;s favorite stretching sequence at the end, which is quite relaxing. I look forward to doing this again. Maybe this time I can finish all of the plyos without sweat dripping off my nose!</p>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Admit it. There&#8217;s something in your life that you would be better without. I KNOW that there are LOTS of things in my life that I could do away with. I have come to the conclusion (strictly personal opinion, here) that our vices keep us from realizing our full potential. They weigh us down, and stress us out (whether we realize it or not). So why don&#8217;t we DO something about it? I think that the first step to treating, and gradually solving a problem, is to admit that it&#8217;s a problem in the first place. <img class="alignright size-full wp-image-144" title="shopping" src="http://breagettingfit.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/04/shopping.jpg" alt="shopping" width="160" height="128" />So, here I go: I have a shopping addiction. I like to shop. It makes me feel better&#8230;for a minute. Then I get the bills and the guilt and I wonder if it&#8217;s really worth it. IT&#8217;S NOT. So how do we remove these vices from our lives? I think that admission is the first step toward healing. I think the next step is to figure out why. I&#8217;ve been listening to Dave Ramsey&#8217;s audio book<em>, Total Money Makeover</em>. I was happy to find that he recognizes that we all <a href="http://www.daveramsey.com"><img class="alignleft size-full wp-image-145" title="drstore_books_bk_tmmo_book" src="http://breagettingfit.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/04/drstore_books_bk_tmmo_book.jpg" alt="drstore_books_bk_tmmo_book" width="200" height="200" /></a>have vices, and you have to DEAL with those vices to change. So that&#8217;s what I&#8217;m doing. I honestly feel like a gigantic weight has been lifted off me since I realized that I was in control of the situation. The realization that my spending (and credit card balances) had taken control of me was a little hard to swallow, but now that I&#8217;ve recognized the problem, I can FIX it. Not just treat it through minimum payments. That got me thinking (which can be very dangerous sometimes!)&#8230;if I can make a major change in my spending habits, and live like no one else, then why can&#8217;t I do the same thing to other areas of my life? THAT really got me thinking. If you&#8217;ve been following my blog (first of all, BLESS YOU!), you know that I am a recently converted vegetarian. Although my reasons morph daily, and I continue to quest for more knowlege on the subject, I am sticking to my guns. I am also trying to eat as close to vegan/natural/organic as I can. It&#8217;s hard. I LOVE Peeps, Zingers, Ding Dongs and Ben &amp; Jerry. But they&#8217;re bad for me, bad for my future children (when we get to that point). So I&#8217;m giving them up. This is good. But hard. Yup. It&#8217;s painful, and so is the money thing. But I&#8217;m strong&#8230;and I KNOW that I can do it. This applies to other areas, too&#8230;.like sleep&#8230;yup, sleep! I could sleep for 12-14 hours if I let myself. BUT I need to exercise to become skinny. I&#8217;ve been doing really good with that one.<img class="alignright size-thumbnail wp-image-146" title="fitness-2" src="http://breagettingfit.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/04/fitness-2.jpg" alt="fitness-2" width="99" height="150" /> I have actually reached the point where I ENJOY exercise. You heard me right. I ENJOY EXERCISE. Weird. I think that the key to this for me was finding exercise that I look forward to&#8230;like my barre workouts (Squeeze, Tracy Anderson Method, Exhale, Bar Method, Fluidity, etc.), my Kettlenetics set and P.I.N.K. Fitness. But these all cost MONEY. OOPS. So I looked through my GIGANTIC collection last night and figured out something interesting: I can do a different workout every day for 60 days and NEVER repeat one. That&#8217;s a little scary. So I&#8217;m done spending money on workouts for a bit. I&#8217;m determined to get ALL of my vices under control&#8230;except my penchant for old movies. That one can stay where it is. I just LOVE Cary Grant!</p>
<p>I just remind myself that it&#8217;s taking it one day at a time, one decision at a time. If I can remember that, I will be in control and moving in the right direction. Most importantly, I&#8217;ve been honest with myself (and the world of people who read my blog), which is a HUGE step. The next step is taking all of this realization and putting it to good use: eat better, save more and EXERCISE my brain AND my body. I&#8217;ll get there. It just takes time. And admission is the FIRST step to recovery.</p>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><img class="alignleft size-full wp-image-136" title="thumbnailca9r1q99" src="http://breagettingfit.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/04/thumbnailca9r1q99.jpg" alt="thumbnailca9r1q99" width="147" height="160" />I realized last night that it&#8217;s been awhile since I&#8217;ve done the Kettlenetics toning workout. So this morning (after my 4 mile run) I popped in <em>KB Target Toning</em> and got to work. I forgot how much this workout TRULY gets into the deep muscle tissue! This workout has 5 segments, so if you&#8217;re short on time, it&#8217;s a great option. It starts out with upper body. First you do shoulder circles, then you do MORE shoulder circles&#8230;then Michelle forgets to have you do them on one side. Don&#8217;t worry&#8230;you won&#8217;t actually be missing an entire set, just a bonus. It&#8217;s a good reason to switch starting sides every time you do Target Toning. After the shoulder circles, you move on to rows, curls and push ups. Let&#8217;s not forget the tricep extentions. My arms were a little like jello after doing this workout. AND it&#8217;s only 10 minutes!! How awesome is that?!</p>
<p>Next, you move on to lower body. This workout made my legs BURN. I will admit to using the 8 pound kbell here&#8230;I have fairly strong legs and it takes a bit to tax them. Curtsey lunges, side lunges, single-leg dead-ish lifts&#8230;it&#8217;s all here. AND she incorporates one of the most ignored muscle groups in exercise videos: YOUR CALVES!! WOOHOO! This workout gets your heart rate up, and provides a pretty good burn for only being 10 minutes long.</p>
<p>The next two segments of the video are standing abs and floor work. Both are fantastic. I like all the twists (both standing and Russian) and the interesting movements. I took it a little easy this morning, since my abs were STILL sore from Tracy Anderson&#8217;s Post Pregnancy Workout! (each segment: standing and floor work is 10 minutes)</p>
<p>The last segment is probably my favorite: dynamic stretching. Who DOESN&#8217;T love to stretch?! It makes your whole body feel good. And after beating it up this morning, stretching felt absolutely DIVINE! I like the fact that Michelle actually takes a full 10 minutes to stretch your ENTIRE body.</p>
<p>I think I like this workout because it&#8217;s a full 50 minutes if you do all the segments, and I always feel SUPER refreshed from the stretching. Definitely a keeper!</p>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>When it comes to getting in shape, it&#8217;s important to find a groove that works for you. I say this because I spent years (quite literally) trying every workout, diet and combination thereof. Here&#8217;s what I&#8217;ve found: you have to do some sort of  cardio&#8230;but if you don&#8217;t enjoy what you&#8217;re doing, you won&#8217;t stick with it. I&#8217;ve tried just about everything from kickboxing to step aerobics, and the only cardio that I seem to be able to stick to is running. Now, I&#8217;ve only been running since <a href="http://www.coolrunning.com"><img class="alignleft size-full wp-image-105" title="running" src="http://breagettingfit.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/04/running.jpg" alt="running" width="121" height="160" /></a>last December, but I&#8217;m completely addicted to it. I love the runner&#8217;s high that you always hear about! Some days are harder than others, but I keep going back. I started running by following the Couch to 5K running program at <a href="http://www.coolrunning.com">www.coolrunning.com</a>. I absolutely loved the fact that every week is mapped out for you. There&#8217;s no guessing involved! I actually have been running 5K races since finishing the program, and am currently working on One Hour Runner, which you can find at <a href="http://www.runnergirlsindia.com/ohr.php">http://www.runnergirlsindia.com/ohr.php</a>. I also signed myself up for a 10K in June&#8230;we&#8217;ll see how that goes! LOL Okay, now to the point: if you enjoy what you&#8217;re doing, you are FAR more likely to stick with it! I have been running for over 6 months, and I still look forward to my running days&#8230;that alone makes me want to keep it up!!</p>
<p>I think that the same principle applies to strength training&#8230;I&#8217;ve run the gammut here, too. Spending hours in the gym, both on the machines and with free weights. I&#8217;ve found that I prefer to have variety here, too. Some days I want a gym-style workout. On those days, I reach for Jari Love. She gives great instruction and you really feel the workout the next day. Other days, I prefer to do some serious lower body toning&#8230;those days I usually pull out my step and FIRM workouts. Lately, I&#8217;ve been more intrigued with isometrics, O-lifts and kettlebells. I&#8217;m absolutely addicted to Kettlenetics, and cannot believe the changes that I&#8217;m seeing in my body from <img class="alignright size-full wp-image-107" title="kettlebells1" src="http://breagettingfit.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/04/kettlebells1.jpg" alt="kettlebells1" width="160" height="128" />the kettlebell workouts. I have the Kettlenetics set, and then I supplement those workouts with some more traditional kettlebell videos (Gin Miller and Kettlebell Bootcamp). I really enjoy the fluid motion, I think. AND the kettlebells are a totally different type of strength training from gym-style weights. Now, I&#8217;ve also been doing P.I.N.K. Fitness, which incorporates Olympic-style lifting to help sculpt your body. And you&#8217;re only using a 5 pound bar! In addition to doing kettlebells and P.I.N.K., I&#8217;ve also been doing barre workouts at least 3 nights a week. I love the stretching aspect that comes with these workouts. AND I think that it&#8217;s helping get rid of my saddlebags!! YAY! <img class="alignleft size-full wp-image-108" title="fluidity" src="http://breagettingfit.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/04/fluidity.jpg" alt="fluidity" width="160" height="160" />As you can probably tell, I have a little bit of Attention Deficit Disorder when it comes to workouts. I think that it&#8217;s good to have choices, and have choices that you enjoy. There will be mornings that you wake up and don&#8217;t feel like swinging around a 10 pound kettlebell, and mornings when you just feel like having a good stretch.</p>
<p>If you can&#8217;t already tell, I workout at home. I have found that I am more motivated if my exercise equipment is sitting in my front room. I feel guilty just sitting on the couch, so I workout instead. I&#8217;ve had gym memberships, and they just don&#8217;t seem to be enough motivation. Inevitably, I think that it&#8217;s the drive to and from the gym that gets me. I feel like it&#8217;s a waste of time. So I have alot of home-based workout programs that keep it interesting.</p>
<p>The last thing that I wanted to touch on is diet. You have to find something that will work for you LONG TERM. Health is not about dieting. Diet&#8217;s DON&#8217;T work! They always fail. So, make a concious lifestyle change that you can live with. I&#8217;ve tried every fad diet out there, from Medifast to Nutrisystem to Weigh Watchers. The one thing that I keep coming back to is <a href="http://www.sparkpeople.com">www.sparkpeople.com</a>. It&#8217;s a great resource for nutrition and exercise information as well as support. It has a great nutrition tracker, and you are working on counting calories, rather than Points.</p>
<p>Your diet needs to be something that you can stick with through the long haul&#8230;and it needs to nourish your body. I&#8217;ve chosen to take the vegetarian route, but you must find something that you enjoy, because if you don&#8217;t love what you eat, you&#8217;ll end up unhappy with your diet, and that will lead to an unhealthy lifestyle all around.</p>

I think it&#8217;s inspiring to see people work hard and eat right. That&#8217;s what this journey is about afterall: nothing is free. So, I was watching the show tonight (you can check out the recap: www.biggestloserclub.com) and was SO very excited when none other than my favorite trainer, Jillian endorsed KETTLEBELS!! How amazing is that!! I was so excited that I jumped up from my sit-ups and did a little dance (there&#8217;s more than one way to get a great ab workout in). And then I started laughing, I mean, on the day that I write 2 blogs about kettlebells, one of the most famous trainers in the U.S. endorses them! That ROCKS! I couldn&#8217;t be more pumped, because kettlebells truly are an AMAZING workout. Where else can you find the same combination of cardio, strength and flexibility? Not to mention that kettlebells sculpt your body in ways you never thought possible. Of course, you have to <span style="font-style:italic;">try</span> them to LOVE them. I&#8217;ve been hooked since day 1.</p>
<p>If you&#8217;re new to kettlebells, start off small. 5,6, or 8 pounds would be sufficient for traditional kettlebell work. You DO NOT want to injure yourself while you&#8217;re learning, especially if you&#8217;re learning at home. Here are some good places to start:</p>
<p>http://www.getkbells.com (Kettlenetics, one of my FAVORITE workouts-this is a FUSION of dance and kettlebells)</p>
<p>http://www.ginmillerdvds.com/Gins-Calorie-Burning-Workout-with-Kettlebells_p_58.html (more of a traditional approach with good emphasis on form &amp; stretching)</p>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_8PF4R_VHIZ8/SduSPRwElTI/AAAAAAAAADw/t3tiV-er1NM/s1600-h/kettlebell+bootcamp.jpg"><img style="float:left;width:200px;cursor:hand;height:284px;margin:0 10px 10px 0;" alt="" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_8PF4R_VHIZ8/SduSPRwElTI/AAAAAAAAADw/t3tiV-er1NM/s320/kettlebell+bootcamp.jpg" border="0" /></a>Angie Miller&#8217;s Kettlebell Bootcamp is yet another great supplement to Kettlenetics. This workout is approximately an hour long with chapters, which is nice if you&#8217;re pressed for time, or you would rather focus on a specific area. Angie does a really good job of cueing, and is constantly reminding you to keep your form. I would have liked to see more angles from the camera, since positioning is SO important when you&#8217;re literally swinging weights around. This workout definitely has a cardio element, and I was able to do the entire workout using my 8lb kbell. This workout is TOUGH, but in a good way. Angie has the workouts segmented into 6 sections, at approximately 10 minutes a session. This allows for a little bit of a rest between workouts. I also liked that each section focused on a different area of the body, or way to use the kettlebell. She also makes you do FULL Russian Get-Ups. OUCH. But a good ouch. I really enjoyed this workout, it seemed a little more traditional than Kettlenetics or Gin Miller, and there was absolutely NO dancing. This is a workout that I would do on weekends when I have more time to lay around feeling sorry for my poor muscles. I was quite exhausted after finishing all the segments (in a good way). I will eventually build up the courage to actually attempt this one during the week&#8230;I&#8217;m just waiting for the Saturday when I don&#8217;t get super out of breath during the swings!</p>
<p>This workout is a great addition if you have kettlebells already or are just starting out. I started out with an 8lb kbell, and it was plenty heavy. Considering that I normally swing around my 4lb kbell for Kettlenetics, I was VERY proud of myself!</p>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Okay, <a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_8PF4R_VHIZ8/SduExraJs3I/AAAAAAAAADo/vB_tJGimvAw/s1600-h/Gin+Miller.jpg"><img style="float:right;width:225px;cursor:hand;height:320px;margin:0 0 10px 10px;" alt="" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_8PF4R_VHIZ8/SduExraJs3I/AAAAAAAAADo/vB_tJGimvAw/s320/Gin+Miller.jpg" border="0" /></a> so I purchased the upgrade package for my Kettlenetics workout, and I wanted to have a little variety so that I could actually use the kbells for more than just the system. In the past, I&#8217;ve purchased workout equipment that only has one use, and I&#8217;ve always regretted it. Although all of the Kettlenetics workouts are wonderful, I was disappointed by the fact that there is only one toning workout. So I did some exploring around <a href="http://www.collagevideo.com/">www.collagevideo.com</a> and <a href="http://www.amazon.com/">www.amazon.com</a> and here&#8217;s what I found: <em>Gin Miller&#8217;s Calorie Burner Workout</em>. This workout is very well put together: solid instruction, good camera angles and just the right amount of encouragement/posture reminders. The workout is broken up into 3 segments, each runs about 10-15 minutes long, which is nice on days your are pressed for time. I was a little bit disappointed that there was not a &#8220;play all&#8221; option. There are 6 different pre-sets: each workout with a warm up and cool down, or each workout as a stand-alone. I thought that all three workouts were well-rounded, hitting multiple muscle groups and providing a light cardio quality to the 10 or 15 minutes. She is also very good about demonstrating the move first, and then asking you to do it with her. She also has you practicing the moves without the kettlebell, just so you can get a feel for the actual range of motion and proper positioning. The tempo of the workout is nice, as it gives you some time between the movements to regroup. There is also room to grow, as Gin shows you options of easy, challenging and <em>more</em> challenging. I appreciate this, as it will allow you to grow MORE than by just increasing the weight of your kettlebell. At the end of each workout, Gin goes into a stretch (it&#8217;s the same one after every workout), so if you want to do another workout, you just hit menu. The stretching segment is solid, she does very slow stretches, which feel great after 45 minutes with the kettlebell swinging around!</p>
<p>If you&#8217;re looking for a good, solid (somewhat fusion) workout, this is a good one. It&#8217;s not terribly spendy ($14.95), and the fact that you can progress by increasing weights, motion or both is impressive. All in all, I really enjoyed this workout for the extra toning and larger variety of moves. It will definitely stay in my kettlebell rotation.</p>

I have never done a workout that actually made my abs and hips sore for DAYS. I view this as a good thing, since those are areas that we all want to whittle away! One of my favorite Kettlenetics workouts is Cardio Balanced. This workout is amazing. I love that it gets my heart rate up and keeps it there. I also appreciate how well Michelle cues. She is very good about letting you know when the moves will be changing, and she also reminds you that you can modify the moves, and that you need to check your form and sequencing constantly. This is something that other workouts seem to lack. I think that the reminders of form for a workout with ballistic motion are VERY important. Beyond that, this workout is just plain fun!! I love that you&#8217;re working total body, getting cardio and toning&#8230;this workout even includes a great ab sequence. It moves quickly, and there are a variety of moves that are built on, so there is never a &#8220;suprise&#8221; change of pace, motion or movement. All the moves are thoroughly explained, as well. If you can&#8217;t tell, I have nothing but good things to say about Michelle&#8217;s instruction style and the layout of her workouts.</p>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_8PF4R_VHIZ8/SdZiE0d8wXI/AAAAAAAAACI/QRLSZAmIEeo/s1600-h/Kttls3Dcomp_clipped.jpg"><img style="float:right;width:320px;cursor:hand;height:171px;margin:0 0 10px 10px;" alt="" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_8PF4R_VHIZ8/SdZiE0d8wXI/AAAAAAAAACI/QRLSZAmIEeo/s320/Kttls3Dcomp_clipped.jpg" border="0" /></a> If you know me, it&#8217;s no secret that I am home-based workout OBSESSED. I would rather sweat, huff and puff in the privacy of my living room than at a gym. I&#8217;ve worked at gyms before, but I usually get bored with the cardio equipment, weights and traditional classes offered. At home, I&#8217;ve tried everything from the FIRM (which I love dearly, but am currently taking a break from) to Beach Body (which I cannot stand-and I&#8217;ve tried it all: Slim in 6, Power 90, Turbo Jam, etc&#8230;. Sorry to all of you fans!) I <em>thought </em>that I found my groove with the FIRM&#8217;s traditional weight-lifting style and balanced that with my ballet/bar workouts. THEN I found something new: <em>KETTLENETICS</em>. I know that for those out there who are kettle bell purists, this workout may seem a little bit insulting. HOWEVER, it DOES NOT claim to be traditional kettle bells. Kettlenetics is a <em>fusion workout</em> that blends the instructor&#8217;s dance background and her training in traditional kettle bell technique.</p>
<p>I really enjoy all the workouts that come with this set. AND I think that it&#8217;s fairly resonably priced for what you get: 6 workouts and the 4 lb kbell&#8230;then you have an option to UPGRADE. I would recommend that you do this. The upgrade includes 2 additional workouts as well as an 8 lb kbell, which you will eventually be able to use. When you&#8217;re starting out, the 4 lb kbell is heavy enough, believe me. This workout is unlike anything that I&#8217;ve ever tried, and I&#8217;ve tried most everything! LOL</p>
<p>Here&#8217;s the breakdown: The set comes with a DVD that breaks down the most basic moves that you&#8217;ll be doing with the kbell. Michelle instructs on form, which is SO very important when you&#8217;re using something like a kbell. I would recommend watching this once through. Then you can move on to FlowMotion Basics. It&#8217;s a 20 minute workout that actually gets your heart pumping, and you go through the basics in a slower format. I love this workout for when I&#8217;m crunched on time, or I want to burn upwards of 200 calories in 20 minutes (usually so that I can enjoy that glass of wine with dinner! LOL). The other DVDs are a mix of cardio and stretching. There is one toning workout included. I really enjoy this mix of strength and cardio. You get your heart pumping, and are toning your muscles at the same time. I always look forward to doing these workouts. I will say that I have 2 traditional kettle bell workouts that I purchased AFTER having Kettlenetics for a few months, and those are okay&#8230;but not nearly as fun. I just like the motivation, spirit and educational aspects that Michelle brings to the workouts.</p>
<p>I&#8217;m sure you&#8217;re curious to know about my results: FANTASTIC!! I have never done a workout that made my abs SO SORE! I was sore for almost a full week after my first round with Cardio Balanced!! I am finally able to fit into size 8 jeans, and when I started Kettlenetics, I was a size 12. I am also finding that my shoulders have more definition, and I&#8217;m getting more shapely legs. I will be honest that I am not a Kettlenetics purist. I have also been running, doing FIRM (although very seldom lately) and isometric/bar exercises. I cannot credit my results soley to kbells, but I KNOW that they helped!!</p>
<p>If you are looking for something challenging, different and really fun, then I think that you should go for it. This is a system that will grow with you. You can always get a heavier kbell! The fusion aspect is also nice, since it&#8217;s a welcome change from traditional weights-only workouts.</p>
