Instant Pot Asian Flank Steak Recipe

I have a serious love affair with my instant pot and this Asian Flank Steak Recipe. For a girl who constantly forgets to pull dinner out of the freezer lately, it’s been a total lifesaver. For some reason this month has been especially hard, I think probably because of all the extra events and special things that go on with a Christmas theme. We have Smalls’ Christmas concert, The Baby’s preschool Christmas party, Wine & Stein and the local zoo, Zoolights, some home construction projects, gingerbread houses, and more. Add in the regular stuff like swim lessons (super important life skill, even if it is winter), my fitness schedule, and work…and dinner is sadly way down on my list.

Thankfully, I have an Instant Pot that hasn’t let me down yet. We make all kinds of things from soups to stews to marinara sauce and roasts…and this week, I made a killer flank steak.

This recipe is so delicious that I literally had nothing left because practically everyone (except Smalls) had at least thirds.

THIRDS!

That never ever happens. And it’s super easy to throw together-y’all, there are literally four (FOUR!) ingredients.

This is one that you can either cook on the slow cooker setting, or you can use the pressure feature to have your steak fork-tender in under 30 minutes.

Ingredients for Asian Flank Steak

  • 2-3 pound Flank Steak (look for one that is on the larger side of average, or use two smaller steaks)
  • 1 bottle of KC Masterpiece Honey Sesame Marinade
  • 1/2 cup fresh ginger root (you can grate it fresh or use the squeezable ginger you find in the produce section)
  • Sesame seeds

Remove your steak from the packaging and pat dry. Place it in your Instant Pot, then empty the entire bottle of marinade over it (yes, the entire thing). How to make Asian flank steak - Instant Pot Asian Flank Steak Recipe

Grate or squeeze your ginger in next, and gently stir to distribute, flipping the steak over to make sure that it’s fully coated with the marinade and ginger.

Place the lid on the Instant Pot. Set for 10 minutes.

If you’re using the pressure cooker feature, I highly recommend that you allow it naturally let off the steam, which takes about 20 minutes, but if you can’t wait that long, you can release it carefully.

Remove the steak from the Instant Pot and allow it to rest for 5 minutes, and then slice it carefully against the grain. Sprinkle the sesame seeds on top and serve.

If you’re using the slow cooker setting, push the slow cooker button and set it for 6-8 hours, leaving the vent open. If you don’t have that much time (we should totally be friends), then choose the meat setting! Simply push the “less time” button, so that your steak has about 20 minutes.

This recipe is awesome with green beans or mashed cauliflower. If you’re feeding more than 4, I strongly suggest you double the recipe (it’s really, really good!).
