It’s only spring, and already we’re baking here in Texas. Yesterday it was in the 90s. In May. So I headed to Kroger after church in search of something to cool off. And of course, I ended up in the freezer section.

Obviously.

Now, I’m not normally not one to buy ice cream on a whim…bu it’s hot and as I was perusing, something caught my eye. Want to know what it was?

The words “high protein” on a carton of ice cream. Y’all. When you’re trying to eat healthy, those words are magical.

Of course, I had to take a closer look. Y’all. ProYo High Protein Low Fat Ice Creams come in 7 flavors. Ish would think I was nuts for bringing home all 7, so I settled on three: mint chip, dutch chocolate (my fave!), and vanilla.

These ProYo High Protein Low Fat Ice Creams are the real deal. We got home, and the kids went outside to play (as they do). I usually bring them a snack, and because I had a “treat” that was really a way to get them to eat more protein, I decided to bring them both a bowl of creamy goodness.

Becuase I’m awesome, and I knew that they would freak. Guess what? They totally did!

After I’d fed the kids, I decided that I’d make myself a protein smoothie for lunch. I have a soft spot for cheesecake, and I just so happened to have all of the ingredients on hand to make a cherry cheesecake smoothie…using ProYo High Protein Low Fat Ice Cream to boost the protein content.

Cherry Cheesecake Smoothie

1 cup frozen dark sweet cherries
1/2 cup vanilla ProYo High Protein Low Fat Ice Cream
1/4 cup low-fat cream cheese
1/4 to 1/2 cup flax or coconut milk
1-2 teaspoons honey, to taste

This is a super easy smoothie to make. Just dump everything in the blender and blend until smooth. Easy peasy!
