Deep breaths. Today is the last day of school. Smalls will be home for 3 whole months. It’s gonna be fine. Repeat, it’s gonna be perfectly fine. At least I hope it’s going to be fine. I can totally survive 3 months of being home with my kids (whom I love very, very much)…right? (If you need a pick me up skip to the chocolate cherry smoothie recipe here.)
Chocolate Cherry Smoothie
We’ll figure out a schedule that works and still allows me to get things done. I mean, realistically, the boys can do their chores while I work with clients and work on the blog.
Do you have a kick ass schedule that works for your family (if you work at home)? If so, please give me some pointers!
One of the things that I’m working on is fast and easy (but nutritious) meals and snacks that take just a few minutes – like this chocolate cherry smoothie.
This smoothie is super easy to throw together, and even though the ingredients are super healthy, the kids completely demolish it every single time.
I can totally see this chocolate cherry smoothie being a summer staple. My other go-to is this Kid-Approved banana peach smoothie bowl.
Chocolate Cherry Smoothie
- 3/4 cup frozen dark cherries
- 3 ice cubes
- 2 tablespoons organic cacao powder
- 1 tablespoon chia seeds
- 2 tablespoon coconut nectar
- 1 tablespoon raw cashew butter
- 2 dates (if you can find them, use delget noor dates-they’re amazing)
- 1/4 teaspoon chlorella powder (trust me here)
- 1/2 cup almond or flax milk
- 3/4 cup water
In a Vitamix (or any other powerful blender) add the cherries and ice cubes. Pulse your blender slightly to chop the cherries and break up the ice.
Add the rest of the ingredients, except the milk and water.
Pour the almond milk and water over the smoothie base.
Blend on high until smooth, about 45 seconds. This may take longer if you have a less powerful blender.
Pour your smoothies into cups (we use mason jars) and serve.
This chocolate cherry smoothie recipe can be made into popsicles or served as smoothie bowls (just top with more cherries, chopped almonds, chia seeds, and some coconut flakes).
This makes the perfect size for two littles or one grown up.
