The Best Essential Oils to Increase Energy

This week my calendar is overflowing. Not in a bad way…in a “this is the last week of school and summer is coming” cramming all the things in kind of way. So I have been discovering the best essential oils to increase energy.

The Best Essential Oils to Increase Energy

Which is great…but it also means that I’m running close to empty in the energy department, and since I’ve promised myself (and my waistline) that I’d limit it to 2 cups of coffee (two 10 ounce cups-I’m not stupid), I needed a pick me up.

Our school district does a field day tomorrow where the kids basically get to run through a blow-up obstacle course, and then it’s 3 days of early release…and 3 months of summer.

For days and weeks like these, I reach for oils that help wake me up and make me smile.

I’m sure it’s a mental thing on my end, but I love putting these oils in my diffuser any time I’m feeling a bit fuzzy or just want a nice fresh scent.

Essential Oils to Increase Energy

I’m a huge fan of diffusing oils that make me feel more human, especially given the current coffee situation.  These oils are my all time favorites for a quick pick-me-up or mornings when I really need that third cup but am being strong (darn willpower!).

Orange Essential Oil

One of my absolute favorites, orange essential oil has a wonderfully light sweet scent that will instantly improve your mood.

And, if you don’t have orange in your oil cupboard, tangerine or lemon (or even grapefruit) make awesome substitutes.

Experiment and see which citrus oil you fall in love with. I know that the oils I reach for change depending on my mood.

Peppermint Essential Oil

Peppermint essential oil will help you wake up in a hurry. It’s got a super clean scent and is magical when diffused with citrus oils (if you don’t want to do the mixing, you can use Citrus Fresh for a similar smell).

And, if you’re not a fan of peppermint, you may find that you enjoy spearmint instead.

When using ‘mint’ oils remember less is more, they pack a powerful punch.

Rosemary Essential Oil

Rosemary has an amazing woodsy smell.

I personally love it alone, but if it’s also delicious when diffused with orange and a single drop of peppermint essential oil in the mornings.

This is my go-to combo for tired mornings.

Ish always comes home and asks if I cleaned because my house smells clean and fresh all day.

Ginger Essential Oil

Ginger is a great add in when you’re feeling a little wiped out. It’s nice and spicy, and if it’s raining I love a few drops of ginger and orange oil to improve a dreary day.

I’ve also been known to add a drop of ginger vitality to my chai tea when 2 cups of coffee just aren’t enough.

Juniper Essential Oil

Juniper is another oil with a deliciously woodsy scent. It pairs really well with ginger and any citrus oil for a warm “Russian Tea” scent.

I also love juniper on its own in the early afternoon as I’m cleaning up from lunch. It just makes things smell fresh and clean.

Wake Me Up Diffuser Blend

My all-time favorite combo happens to include three of the oils I just mentioned. Want to know what it is?

  • 2 drops orange
  • 2 drops rosemary
  • 1 drop peppermint

That’s it! It’s super simple, and everyone seems to love the smell.

If you’re not a huge fan of woodsy smells, try adding a single drop of rosemary or juniper and work your way up. I have found that scents that I’m not initially drawn to grow on me, which is how I ended up diffusing just juniper yesterday.

What essential oils do you love to diffuse in the mornings?
