The Fitness Gear You Need In Your Home Gym

You may recall that I recently joined a gym because I just was not using my home gym (a.k.a. my dining room) anymore. But there’s a bit more to the story. Yes, I now have a gym membership. Which I love, but I also have days where I just can’t make it in to workout.

The Fitness Gear You Need In Your Home Gym

So I’ve paired down my home gym to the bare essentials so that I don’t have any excuses. I can get a quick 20-minute workout in any day of the week using just four pieces of fitness gear:

Seriously. Yes, I have more “fun” things (like my beloved yoga mat), but honestly if I have to get a quick workout in, I reach for my (PINK!) jumprope and jump for a few minutes to warm up, and then I get to work.

How To Use Your Fitness Gear

I like using my jump rope to gently warm up my body. It’s not as gentle as rebounding, but it does help strengthen my ankles, which I definitely need right now!

After my body is warm, I like to use my ball and resistance bands in conjunction with each other. I am loving the workout library that DynaPro has put together-it includes a workout for your whole body using nothing more than my three essentials.

Generally, I like to follow a pattern when I’m exercising, especially if I’m using resistance (bands or weights).

After I’ve warmed up, I like to use my larger muscle groups, this means squats using the bands for resistance. Once my muscles are a little tired, I’ll move on to chest, back, biceps, triceps, shoulders, and then lunges (can’t forget those)!

I finish up with an ab workout on the ball.

    One of my favorite exercises is walking my dog. I can concentrate on my dog’s happiness instead of how much my knees hurt.

    My favorite exercise is swimming but I can’t do that at home. At home I actually enjoy yoga stretches.

    What I actually enjoy is swimming, walking, and yoga. I used to have a resistance band and I need to get one again because I did enjoy that too.
