I Got Tired Of Being Told “There’s Nothing Wrong With You!”

When I first insisted on being tested for thyroid issues, it was because I literally could not get out of bed. I felt like my whole world was caving in. I was sure that I dying. My day looked like this:

6:00 a.m. Wake up with hubby

6:15 a.m. Back to bed

7:00 a.m. Get up with Smalls

7:15 a.m. Make (and eat) breakfast

7:30 a.m. Nap

9:00 a.m. Wake up to put Smalls down for a nap

9:05 a.m. Nap

10:30 a.m. Get up with Smalls after his nap

10:45 a.m. Make a snack

11:00 a.m. Nap

12:00 p.m. Wake up to a screaming kid who wants me to play with him

12:30 p.m. Fall asleep laying on the floor playing Duplos

1:00 p.m. Wake up and realize I forgot to feed Smalls lunch

1:00 p.m. Lunch

1:30 p.m. Naps for everyone

3:00 p.m. Get up with Smalls

3:15 p.m. Snack

3:16 p.m. Convince Smalls to watch a movie with me so I can nap (see a trend here?!)

3:30 p.m. Call the doc to make an appointment

4:00 p.m. Doze while I watch a movie and Smalls plays

5:00 p.m. Make dinner

5:30 p.m. Eat dinner

6:30 p.m. Ish puts Smalls to sleep

6:30 p.m. Work

8:00 p.m. Bed

Y’all. That is NOT normal. Raise your hand (or comment below) if you’ve had a day like this.

What if I told you I had MONTHS like this? I actually enrolled Smalls in preschool so that I could sleep. You read that right. My sole motivation was to get more sleep. Because when I went to the doctor, they drew blood, ran the labs and told me this:

There’s nothing wrong with you.

I called BS. So I went to another doc. In fact, I kept going to different doctors until I found one who threw up her hands and prescribed Synthroid just to shut me up.

And you know what? I started to feel better…and then I started to feel worse. Something just wasn’t right. So I started doing some research into homeopathy and naturopathy and found that essential oils and supplements may be able to support my thyroid issues better than medication.

Wait. What?!

So I found a new doctor. This time I picked a naturopath. And we worked together to get me health…and off the medication. 

It definitely wasn’t easy, but I have to tell you, I feel So.Much.Better.

And I know what my body can tolerate, and how to tell when I start to tip off balance.
