I’m still in denial that it’s May, y’all…but the memes make it all worth it.
And so does the food. Because at the end of the month is Memorial Day, which means fire and food and good times, but it’s also a time to remember those who have helped fight for us.
Before we moved away from my childhood home, we would always visit the cemetery and deliver flowers to the graves of those who have died fighting for us.
This year, I think that we’ll visit the local cemetery and bring some flowers. It’s important that we remember what they fought so hard to protect.
So before we grill and drink our wine or beer, we will give thanks to those who allowed us to celebrate.
It also means that the kids are going to want to play outside and I’ll need to stock up on more bug spray.
But I digress. We’re really, really excited to test out our brand new grill. Well, Ish is. I try to stay out of his way and worry about the sides and the playlist (priorities, right?!).
Since it’s under 100 degrees in May here in Michigan, we’re spending way more time outside, which means that I’ve been on the hunt for new and exciting recipes to pop on the grill.
I mean, I have some tried and true favorites, but it’s always good to try new things, right?
As I was making my list, I figured that y’all may also need some fresh recipes to help you celebrate summer whether you like a good rack of ribs, enjoy marinated flank steak (my favorite) or are vegan.
