My Hypothyroid Protocol
I was tired, exhausted, and just plain done. I would wake up in the morning, and drink at least 3 cups of steaming hot coffee…and all of that caffeine would get me to about 7:00 a.m.
Trust me when I tell you that I was sure there was something wrong with me. So I went to my doctor. And she did a single lab test, which I now know is very common…and also very misleading. It came back normal. She told me to take an iron supplement and make sure I was taking my vitamins and she sent me home.
This was not the answer I was expecting!
I had done extensive research about thyroiditis, and according to every journal I read, I had nearly all of the symptoms:
- Severe fatigue
- Loss of energy
- Weight gain
- Difficulty losing weight
- Joint pain
- Muscle pain
- Dry skin
…and that’s not even the complete list!
So I came back. And demand more test. Again, the results were the same. I was ‘low normal,’ but normal nonetheless. The third time I demanded a thyroid test she didn’t even order one-instead, she prescribed Synthroid and said I could “try it” and see how I felt.
You may feel like there’s nothing you can do-that you’re tied to a pill for the rest of your life. And I’m here to tell you that you’re wrong.
