I’m a bit like Princess Vespa when it comes to my oils…I can’t live without them.
They travel with me in a cute little oils case, and they are the first thing I reach for when we need something. Even the kids know that they can reach into my bag and grab their “Owie” oil if they need it.
To say we’re obsessed doesn’t quite cover it.
I invariably find myself talking to everyone about oils-. They are awesome…but I’ve been getting asked more and more which oils are my favorites…and why.
I’m going to be honest here, asking me to pick a favorite is like asking me which kid is my favorite. It’s really, really unfair.
But, since you asked, I tried to narrow it down. And since we’re talking about my personal favorites, I couldn’t pick just one. So I picked four. You read that right. And they all go everywhere with me. They live in my kitchen and bathroom cabinets, in my purse, and in my suitcase. I never leave home without them.
Lavender
Lavender is my number one because it is literally the swiss army knife of essential oils. Lavender is also great for soothing irritated skin, improving relaxation and helping my kids calm down when they’ve gotten on my last nerve…it’s kind of amazing.

The scent of lavender is clean and woodsy, not at all like the floral that I was so afraid of when I started using oils. Plus, it’s safe for use on and around my kids (diluted, of course).
Lemon
Lemon essential oil is wonderfully helpful around the house. It’s known for its ability to cut through grease, and is a wiz at removing all the things that my kids like to use to “decorate” (think paint, marker, ink, and even glue) from just about every surface that they can reach.
This has been thoroughly tested, y’all. Lemon essential oil also works well to remove odors (this is a great one to put on your dryer balls!) and is a great addition to your carpet powder if you have a problem with pet smells. In case you need to know that.
Tea Tree
Tea tree and I are good friends. I absolutely love this oil. It smells fresh and is great at getting out tough odors. Tea tree also promotes healthy skin and is my go-to when I’ve got blemishes. Just a dab and they’re gone overnight. You can also apply this amazing oil to your feet and toenails if they need a little help.
But don’t stop there! I add tea tree to my vinegar rinse for my hair because it promotes a healthy scalp.

When I ran out of my Thieves Cleaner, I mixed up a batch of my own household cleaner using white vinegar, tea tree, and lemon oils.
It worked like a charm.
Peppermint
Oh, Peppermint. Not only does it smell like the plant (one of the best ways to tell if your peppermint oil is authentic!), but it does a bang-up job of soothing upset tummies, and encouraging healthy digestion.
I use peppermint in my after sun soother for its cooling ability, as well as my post-workout muscle rub.
Cool Azul Pain Relief Cream
If you don’t want to carry a bottle of peppermint with you to the gym, you really need to get yourself some of the Cool Azul Pain Cream which provides cooling relief from minor muscle and joint aches, arthritis, strains, bruises, and sprains. It’s awesome and pairs the power of peppermint oil with wintergreen for a double punch of pain relief.
