We all fall into the trap of doing the same old thing day in and day out. In our struggle to get through our routines, many of us fail to do the one thing that would make these routines easier…take care of ourselves! That’s right, some simple self-care can be what it takes to make our lives easier and less stressful.
It’s so true though! Being a busy mom and chasing after two boys, I’ll be the first to admit that I sometimes forget I am also a human being. BUT, then I get to thinking… If I’m not at my best, then how can I be the best for my kids? Some simple self-care can be what it takes to make our lives easier and less stressful!
The changing of the seasons is a wonderful time to change up the routine that you follow when it comes to your self-care. Autumn is here and now it’s time to start taking care of yourself the way you should.
If you are lost on where to start, here are 10 Fall self-care practices that you should start now:
Go outside.
With the arrival of Fall, everything is changing. Leaves have fallen, rain has begun falling in some areas and the cool air has begun. Take a little bit of time to walk outside, take some deep breaths, and enjoy the surroundings. It’s quite refreshing.
Get a massage.
Spoil yourself with a massage! If you are on a budget, many massage therapists offer 15-30 minute massages for a lowered rate. This is a great way to stay on budget and ease your stress and tension.
Read an inspirational book.
How often do you allow yourself time to read a book? Reading is a great way to relax and if you choose an inspirational book to read, it will lift your spirits.
Take a bath.
A nice, long relaxing bath goes a long way toward helping promote relaxation and is a great self-care action. Add in some bath bombs (check out my bath bomb of the month: Pumpkin Spice Bath Bombs!) and your bath will be quite luxurious.
Go on a coffee date.
Take yourself and your favorite friend on a coffee date. Find a nice coffee shop and go during the off hours so it’s not busy and simply take your time. We are too busy these days and we tend to rush even our coffee breaks.
Write in a journal.
Journaling has been proven to be great for relieving stress, strengthening your intelligence, boosting your memory and it even helps you to reach your goals. You can find a great travel journal to keep in your handbag or a larger sized one to keep by your bedside to write at night.
Take a walk.
Taking a walk in the nice, crisp Fall air can do wonders to boost your energy. Plus, exercise is one of the best ways to take care of yourself and a walk is a great way to do that.
Meditate.
Meditation is a mental break from the daily hustle and bustle of life. Taking the time to meditate means that you care enough about yourself to reward yourself with a much-needed break.
Fire up a Fall scented candle, incense or diffuse essential oils.
Filling the air around you with the scents of Fall helps put you in the “Fall” frame of mind. Choose between Fall scents like pumpkin spice and cinnamon apple. I like to make a blend of essential oils using clove essential oil, cinnamon bark essential oils, nutmeg essential oil, ginger essential oil, and orange essential oil to get me in the “Fall” frame of mind.
Relax.
Make a conscious decision to simply relax. Take a weekend and make absolutely no plans whatsoever. You will thank yourself.
