Smalls LOVES SunButter | Tantrum update | And a cleanse update…

So. Smalls has an issue with food that doesn’t involve SunButter lately. Not that I’m complaining. I love me some Sunbutter. But when all he’ll eat is SunButter + [fill in the blank], it’s forcing me to get creative with my recipes. Like yesterday…

Breakfast was a SunButter & Jelly smoothie.sunbather

Lunch was a SunButter & Jelly sammie with  the crust (I love my kid).

Dinner was a brown rice cake with SunButter. Of course I’m giving him grapes, apples, smashed sweet potatoes (HUGE hit, by the way) with cinnamon…but he MUST have his SunButter.

In fact, without it, he goes on the verge of tantrum throwing. Yeah. Not fun for me. Although, (in case you’re wondering) his tantrums have gotten better since I’ve been ignoring them. Win for mama!

Speaking of tantrums…I had a major one last night and completely fell of the cleansing wagon, which is a crying shame because I was feeling SO SO good. So today, I’m determined to get back on that boat.

And before you freak out that I shouldn’t be cleansing while I’m still breastfeeding, let me just say this: I am not actually cleansing. I’m eating healthier, no processed foods (except last night), and feeling so much better. So for me, I’m cleansing myself of frozen sweet potato fries and Gardenburgers.

Peanut-free? Try this delicious sunbutter and jelly smoothie!

SunButter and Jelly Smoothies

  • 1/3 cup frozen fruit or berries (peaches, strawberries, blueberries, raspberries or a mixture)
  • 1/2 ripe banana, frozen
  • 1/2 cup SunButter
  • 6 ounces vanilla yogurt (you can use a berry or fruit yogurt here as well)
  • 1 tbsp flaxseed oil
  • Fruit juice or milk to thin
  • Honey to taste (I used about a tbsp)
Put all of your ingredients in your blender, and blend until everything is well incorporated.
If you’re not big on a SunButter and Jelly smoothie, try omitting the berries and adding a tablespoon of carob chips for a Sunbather-chip smoothie!
