Have you ever been stuck in the car line and suddenly you’re absolutely STARVING? I always, always bring a bottle of water with me, but sometimes the kids raid my bag looking for a snack, and when I want to eat, it’s not there.
That was my day yesterday. Car line with no snack and a bottle of water. So of course I started tearing through my backpack like a crazed and hangry mom who didn’t sleep enough last night and hadn’t showered in a couple days (don’t judge). It’s been a bit wild around our house lately.
Anyway, I ran across a new protein powder that I’ve been wanting to try. I remember stuffing it in my pack before BodyPump last week, but I never got around to drinking it because The Baby was demanding all of my attention and I’d run out of my 2-hour window at Child Watch. YAY for cranky kids!
Be Smart
Y’all, that little packet of E-hydrate Protein On-the-Go saved me! I was able to mix in my water in the pouch, shake, and drink! And it was delicious! So, when I got home, I immediately stuck another pouch in my bag, along with some hydration packs.
Now, I always, always have water in my car. Y’all. It’s important. Hydration keeps us alive! Your body is approximately 60 percent water. But wait, there’s more! Your brain is 70% water. Your lungs are 90% water. So. Thinking and breathing? Those things are really, really important.
4 Signs You Need To Hydrate
- Dry mouth
- Dark urine
- Headache
- Dizziness
If you are experiencing any of the above symptoms, your body may need to hydrate. As soon as possible.
But what if you don’t like the taste of water? Then you’d get along great with Smalls. He hates water…I think that he thinks I’m making him drink it to be mean.
I’m not (not really).
Last week, we tried something new. I decided to let him have a few packets of KIDS hydration drink mix. It’s super easy to use, and is caffeine and taurine-free, and sweetened with Stevia.
AND, both the KIDS and the adult hydration packs contain the RDA for Vitamins B, C, and D, minerals, and electrolytes (more than sports drinks, but without the sugar!).
I always make sure that he has a full water bottle in his cup holder for after school, because he’s always dying of thirst.
Last week, I mixed in one of the E-hydrate KIDS packs (if you want to pick some up for your picky drinker, use the code “MOMSMEET” for 20% off your first order!).
Y’all. He DOWNED his water and asked for more. I was floored! This never happens. Water is usually a fight! This is a total win in my book-it tastes good AND my kids are drinking more water (both of them!).
The moral of this little story? Always be prepared. Pack protein and snacks so that when you’re stuck you’re not starving (or dying of thirst).
