Don’t give it to the winter body if you don’t have to!
Winter Fitness Activities To Do Indoors
Once the temperature drops, everything thinks that they automatically have to join a gym. And honestly, I get it…I really do. It’s the easy answer that just “makes sense.”
But if you stop and take a look around your home, you’re going to see that you have everything that you need right in your living room or basement area.
Don’t believe me? Check out these simple fitness activities that you can literally start today.
Jumping rope is such a great way to move your body and burn those calories. Not only are you using your arms, but you’re also using your legs and core as well. And the great part? It’s actually kind of fun to do, too!
Sit-ups are a crazy simple way that you can beat the bulge quickly. Some people prefer to do crunches instead, and that is fine as well. The key is to make certain that you’re taking the time and doing them effectively so that they’re buying the calories and targeting your core.
- Use a treadmill
Even though the thought of a treadmill might sound dreadful, it’s a quick solution for working out during the winter months. Just position it in front of the TV and walk or run the time away while you’re watching your favorite show. And remember, this is just a short term fix! Once the warm weather arrives, you can start running or walking outside.
Fitness Hacks to Try this Winter
Now that you know a few simple indoor fitness activities that you can do during the winter months, it’s time to talk about some hacks as well.
Use whatever you have around the house as weights to lift
If you don’t have any weights in your house, don’t fret. Instead of running out to the store and spending a bunch of money, you can easily just look around your house and see what items you have instead.
Lift canned goods, children (safely of course) or anything else that works and work out those arms and legs.
Challenge yourself to run in place 4 times a day
Just because you don’t want to get outside and run in the cold doesn’t mean that you can’t make it happen. Instead, challenge yourself to run in place. Stop whatever you’re doing and lift up those knees and jog in place.
Push yourself hard and fast and time yourself for a minute or two. You’ll be amazed at the workout that you’re giving yourself just by running in one single place in your home. Even though you might not be physically moving to another location, you’re burning calories just like you are! (and if you want to do this more than 4 times per day, do so!)
Don’t let the winter blues get you down. You can easily continue your workout all year long without missing a beat.
If you’re letting the cold weather stop you from working out outside, you can easily bring your indoor fitness routine up to par. These simple fitness activities and hacks are super simple and easy to do!
