Ingredients

  • 1 pound sirloin tip steak
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 1/2 tablespoon butter
  • 1 teaspoon coarse black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon sea salt
  • 2 tablespoon liquid smoke marinade

For The Sauce

  • 1 tablespoon granulated beef boullion
  • 1 teaspoon corn starch
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon sugar (or stevia powder)
  • 1/2 teaspoon thyme
  • 1/2 cup Merlot (or dry red wine)
  • 1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon vegetable oil
  • 2 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

Instructions

  • Prepare the steaks by putting them on a cutting board and tenderizing with a hammer.
  • Sprinkle each side of the steak with some olive oil. Then add the liquid smoke, salt, garlic powder, and pepper. Let the steaks sit and marinate for a little bit while you begin preparing the wine sauce.
  • Add the dry ingredients for the sauce into a medium-sized bowl. Then pour in the wine, vinegar, Worcestershire, and oil together. Mix well and set aside.
  • Put the butter and olive oil in a hot skillet using medium high heat. After the butter melts and begins sizzling, add a steak to the pan and cook for 4-5 minutes per side. Use a meat thermometer to check the temperature to make sure it's 140 - 160 degrees F. Then place on a serving plate.
  • Lower the temperature and add one tablespoon of oil to the pan. Pour the mixture of sauce into the pan and stir continually. Make sure to stir the entire time so it doesn't burn. The sauce will thicken as it cooks. After it is thick and will coat the back of your spoon then you can drizzle over each steak and serve.
