Being a mom has my time limited. I mean…there are seriously some days that I feel like I don’t even have time to brush my hair. (some days I might not…don’t tell) And on those days, it’s frustrating, to say the least.

What I’ve learned over my years of life is that there’s nothing beneficial or positive that comes out of putting myself last. NOTHING.

So, guess what? I decided it’s time to make a change. And this change isn’t only positive for me, it’s positive for the boys, too.

We’re going to find some time during each and every day, to get up and get active together.

Staying Fit and Getting Active

Y’all know that I like to be healthy and exercise, but the mom side of me feels a bit guilty when I separate myself from the kids to work out. Guess what? It doesn’t have to be a time to separate. Instead, we’re gonna start doing these fun exercise ideas together and move our bodies every single day.

  • Dribbling the ball while jogging

Just when you think you’ve got coordination and skills, this form of working out may have you questioning that thought. Challenge yourself and your kids to a game of dribbling the basketball while jogging up and down the street. If you can dribble well while jogging, awesome! But if not…you’ll be getting in a few extra steps as you go chasing down your runaway basketball.

  • Tag Team Race

Who doesn’t remember playing a good ol’ game of tag team from back in the day? All you need are two people for this to work, and if you have more, it’s even more rest time for you to enjoy!

Have someone start and run to the next person in line as fast as they go. Once they get near, they’re going to reach out and “tag” that person giving them the cue to go! The more that you do this, the more exercise that you get. Starting and running in short bursts of energy is such a great way to get in some much-needed activity and exercise for all!

  • Jump rope fun

Work out those lets by challenging your little one to a fun game of jump rope! How many times can you jump without tripping up and having to start over? It’s a challenge for sure, but even more than that it’s a great way to work those things and bodies for everyone involved.

As you get skilled, you can even try jumping on one foot as well. The options for working out with a jump rope are actually pretty extensive!

Dance party

Dancing to music is a fun and great way to burn those calories and move those bodies. Think Zumba, but with a little bit better music choices. And while you may not have fun shaking your booty to “Baby Shark” all day long, just think about the benefits that you’re giving to yourself and your kids.

Plus, now is the chance to show off some of the moves that you used to use when you were there age! You can “wow” them with your dance skills and maybe learn a thing or two from them as well.

Here’s the deal. Exercising as an adult doesn’t have to be as boring as going to the gym (and don’t get me wrong, I still LOVE the gym) and running on a treadmill. You have the chance now, while your kids are still young, to show them fun ways to move their body.

And trust me on this one…these are the moments that they will remember forever. You’re not only showing them that being active can be fun, but you’re teaching them about the importance of health and movement as well!

What fun exercises do you and your family enjoy?
