14 Healthy Snack Ideas That Even The Kids Will Love

I live in Texas, which means that we spend a lot of time driving to get places. For example, I have a dear friend who lives in Dallas. Which is “only” 4 hours away. Or today, I am in San Antonio, which is “only” a 3.5 hour drive. The beach is 20 minutes. Seriously. But if you want the really pretty beach? 45 minutes.

Obviously, we’re on the road a lot. Which means I need to have healthy snacks on hand. All. The. Time. Having healthy snacks save my butt. Consistently.

I don’t know about you, but I get HANGRY without food. And so do my kids (and the hubby).

So. These snacks are favorites of ours, and I’m sure that your family will love them, too!

  • Apple slices with peanut butter and rolled oats
  • Grapes & cheese
  • Pears & cheese
  • Oven roasted almonds with sea salt
  • Veggies & hummus
  • Trail mix or GORP
  • Hardboiled eggs with fruit
  • Celery with cream cheese
  • Celery with peanut butter
  • Raisins & cashews
  • Apple slices with a wedge of Laughing Cow
  • Mixed nuts with a slice of cheese
  • Larabars (I love my copycat recipe!)
  • Oatmeal smoothies (split the recipe between yourself and your kids)

I know that I’m not anywhere near including all of our favorites, but it’s a start! For me personally, I’m obsessed with nuts. Specifically almonds and cashews. I love them. Unfortunately, my kids do, too. So I’ve gotten really good at pre-portioning them into snack sized bags.

You can actually do that for a lot of these snacks-especially if you’re traveling. I also use these small dipĀ containers so that I can pack apple or celery slices and control the mess. Plus, it’s automatic portion control.

    I really like nombars….They are a oat bar with coconut oil in and are overall quite nice. I used to love nakd bars but got sick of them quickly and find nombars are better for keeping hunger away.

    My biggest downfall is definitely eating enough as I really am not much of a foodie…I am sure I will egt sick of the nombars pretty soon too!
