According to It Starts With Food, this week is where I will start to feel a whole lot better. I can’t say I’ve been feeling horrible over the past two weeks, but I was fighting some sugar cravings due to shark week, but that quickly passed.
Want to know what was on the menu this week?
Whole30 Day 15
Breakfast: Starbucks passion tea (no sweetener), and a Lemon Larabar
Lunch: Spicy tuna cakes from Nom Nom Paleo with Rainier cherries
Dinner: Whole30 banger patties & mashed sweet potatoes from with steamed broccoli
Today was a good day. There’s a big storm rolling in the week (Tropical Storm Bill), so I wanted to make sure that Smalls and The Baby got to the park to run some energy out. They had a blast, and we all got a little Vitamin D before we end up stuck inside because of the weather.
I decided that I would venture a go at “eating out” since we woke up shortly before it was time to leave for our playdate. It turned out well! I stopped by Starbucks and ordered a passion tea shaken with blackberries, and I enjoyed a Larabar (not all of their bars are Whole30 approved, so read the ingredients).
Now to tuck in and hunker down. Praying the power doesn’t go out so that I can cook dinner tomorrow!
Whole30 Day 16
Breakfast: Whole30 banger patties with mixed berries
Lunch: Paleo egg salad with green grapes & green beans
Dinner: Bacon Frittata with mashed sweet potatoes
Today was a good day! I had a hard time waking up-but I blame that more on Tropical Storm Bill than my Whole30. Ish and I also had a great talk about how wonderful we are both feeling, and agree that gluten is something that we’re definitely not bringing back next month-we even talked about possibly continuing and doing a whole 60 or 90 days.
Crazy? Possibly. But I wish I could share this energy with you! I’ve been looking for reasons to be active, and I feel like I actually want to go chase my very energetic child at the park!
Whole30 Day 17
Breakfast: Omelette cups with fresh berries and pomegranate seeds
Lunch: Bacon Frittata with mashed sweet potatoes and steamed green beans
Dinner: Bacon and eggs (I also had raw green beans while I cooked!)
Today was a great day. LOTS of rain thanks to the Tropical Storm, but that left time to do an extra workout (Smalls wanted to do his yoga DVD with me), along with playing with the boys. We were supposed to have leftovers, but they ended up being eaten for lunch. Oh well!
Whole30 Day 18
Breakfast: Ethos water and a Coconut Cream Larabar
Lunch: Whole30 banger patties with steamed broccoli
Dinner: Whole30 salmon benedict with baked asparagus
Smalls had a tie dye playdate, so we ran out of the house, and of course I forgot breakfast. Thank heavens I had a Larabar in my diaper bag! I also brought watermelon for the kids to enjoy and ate quite a bit. Lunch was leftover banger patties-I think that I may make them without the lemon next time. We’ll see.
And dinner. Oh.My.Goodness. Y’all. If you are an eggs benedict fan, this recipe will BLOW.YOUR.MIND. Super easy, delicious, and ready in no time flat (Seriously. It took me less than 15 minutes!). Unfortunately it doesn’t leave much for leftovers (nothing, in fact, since you can’t hold over hollandaise), so I think that this may become a weekend breakfast or something.
Either way, it’s staying in rotation. YUM.
Whole30 Day 19
Breakfast: Scrambled eggs and bacon with blackberries and raspberries
Lunch: Hard boiled egg
Dinner: Roast chicken breast with steamed broccoli and green beans
Today was a good day! I got my HIIT workout in, got to snuggle with the boys, and Smalls made an “Ironman” suit. I got the ENTIRE house clean, including the laundry, and we had sun in the morning and an awesome thunderstorm in the afternoon. It was a good day!
Whole30 Day 20
Breakfast: Scrambled eggs with Rainer cherries
Lunch: Omelette cups with steamed green beans
Dinner: Eastern Market Shrimp with steamed broccoli
Today was a good day! We were busy, but the house is spotless, the beds are made, and I even got a grown up comforter on clearance at Target (I’ve been using Smalls’ Jake and the Neverland Pirates comforter and he asked if he could have it back). It came with shams. SHAMS, y’all. This is FO.REAL.
And I was ridiculously happy to make my bed today. Way over the top happy. It’s really a cute comforter. I also got Smalls set up with the diffuser in his room (he’s been working on being responsible), so he was super happy, especially since he’s been struggling with a the sickies for the past 24 hours (don’t worry-I’m oiling everyone up!).
Whole30 Day 21
Breakfast: Frittata egg cups with Rainer cherries
Lunch: Eastern Market Shrimp with buffalo sauced cauliflower
Dinner: Steak and oven-fried potato wedges
Aaaand…I’m sick. Blargh. I should have started oiling myself earlier. Like the flight attendants tell you to do with the oxygen masks: yours first, then your kids. Oops.
In other news, I am resting today, but I did get a ton of prep work done for this coming week, and I’m working on a new article series all about meal prep to show you how I prep healthy meals for my whole family. It’s really not that hard, and I think that you’ll enjoy it!
I’ve really wanted to try the Whole 30 but I’m afraid I would give up on it. I’m so bad about “diets” and what not. I know this isn’t a diet but I love beer and wine, and crappy food (sometimes)! I like how you’re posting what you’re eating because thats always my biggest struggle is coming up with what to make.
I was worried, too-but honestly I don’t miss any of that! Which is super surprising to me!
I really have been wanting to try something like this. Or at least I know I need to. It just seems like so much work but anything good is work I guess. I think I’m gonna look more into it today thx !!
Honestly, I have found that I’m spending LESS. Less time, less money, and less stress.
Great job! I’ve only been able to stick with whole30 for about 3 days! lol Larabars are always an awesome treat though. I eat them all of the time!
I love larabars!
Everything looks so delicious, and I love myself some Passion Tea just as it comes with no sweetener. It has a great taste and always quinches my thirst!
I’ve been really impressed with the recipes!
The omlette cups look really yummy. These are all great ideas for whole30 meals. xo ~ Megan
Thanks! They are my favorite!
It sounds like you’re doing awesome! I attempted the Whole 30 and failed dismally :/
Oh no! Want to join me? I think that it’s all about finding food that makes you excited…at least that’s what is working for me!
Hooray for the Whole 30!! It changed the way I eat. Your meals look delicious + nutritious!
Woohoo! When did you do your Whole30? We’re talking about making it a Whole60! LOL
I love that you are sharing your experience and menu on the Whole30 diet. I’ve been thinking about trying this out in a couple months after traveling and will look to your site for reference! Thanks!!
I’m glad this is helpful for yoU! If you decide to take the plunge, let me know!
